Winter weather

Image
The Auchnacraig group made the journey up to the woods today and the wind died down making conditions much more pleasant than the stormy weather this morning! We went to see how much rain had fallen and two of the group swore they saw a frog being swept down the burn in the fast flowing torrents! The waterfall at the woods was spectacular today and got various new names including “Scary Falls” and “Thunder Falls”. The hand crafted Christmas willow wreaths went home today.

P3 Forest School

Today was the final outdoor session for P3. They had some free time to choose what they wanted to do and making dens and shelter proved popular and sensible given the wet weather!

P2/3 and P4 Forest School

Today was all about rain shelters and hot chocolate! The weather is on the turn and after only really having had two wet forest school days since August the weather was less favourable today. We took to the polytunnel for some shelter for our hot chocolate and then back to check the protection the different den designs offered against the rain. The school will be reeking of damp tarpaulins for the next couple of days I guess...

Today some of the group tried willow weaving and the others took charge of the fire and also had a shot of using an axe.
