Tuesday mornings

Image
Tuesday mornings are often the most fun packed  of the outdoor learning sessions as that is when the nursery groups come out with me and each group embraces the outdoors with such great enthusiasm. Today was the orange group’s turn and because of the chilly temperatures I set up a wee obstacle challenge to keep them moving. They then set up their own course before building a den and having a snack. The storm shelter proved a great hit and we used it to stay warm today. Can’t wait to work with them again soon.  This was a great way to chase away the January blues! Balancing skills were needed today!  Add caption Challenge! Make a circular course. They did it!

John Muir Award: Field Trip to Balmaha

Image
The John Muir trip had a trip to Balmaha on 21st January and once there they walked "in the footsteps of John Muir"-hence the hats, beards and explorers bags in the photos. They examined lichens and mosses, looked at the habitat of the red squirrel, learned about the celtic rainforest and created their own national parks. A huge thank you to Ali Cush at LLTNP for looking after us so well and making the trip so much fun. The journey home was very peaceful as the fresh air had worked its magic and all six children snoozed on the train!
