Forest School

There was more conker drilling, den building, wand waving today as well some "bats" and "bugs" playing and snapped trees being sawn down. It was another cold but sunny day and the flasks came out with warm orange juice for the morning P3 group's break. P4 wanted scary stories at their juice break and hopefully they enjoyed all the "jumpy bits" as a few did leap a little as the storyteller added special effects in to her tale. Another fun day at the woods and I would like to commend P4 for having a very cooperative approach today, it was a delight to see them help each other tie knots and work together to today all the equipment away. Best class of the week for that this week! A great way to end Forest School this week. ☔🌧***PLEASE bring cosy socks 🧦 🧦  to keep feet warm, jogging bottoms and a hat and spare sweatshirt/jumper next week-the weather looks like it is going to be turning wet. Thank you!***🌧☔

Hogwarts Forest School

P2/3 went to the woods and read Room on the Broom and from that they made a broomstick and magic wands. There was so much magic in the woods that they came in and wrote recipes for Magic potions afterwards.

Room on my broom then we went bonkers for conkers!

I had a brilliant morning with the Orange group from our nursery today-they made woodland necklaces and then collected twigs and a long stick so we could make a broomstick for the witch from Room on the Broom and finally the children had a go at making their own magic wands. It really was a lot of fun. Then in the afternoon, our Auchnacraig group went up to the woods. They went on a Halloween Scavenger Hunt and explorer their surrounding while hunting for seasonal items. Once they returned to base they had turns at using the hand drill to make their conker jewellery.  The sun shone all day and the autumn colours blazed for us today against the blue sky.  I was beaten at Conkers.  Found a pumpkin!  The HUUUUUGE leaf!

Primary 3

Primary 3 enjoyed some mild weather for their first Forest School session, they took part in a little warm up game of charades and then tried their hand at a figure of 8 knot before using knots in context and building a den. Washing their muddy boots in a puddle
